Guwahati: At least five people were missing after a boat carrying nine people capsized in the Brahmaputra river on Sunday morning.
According to reports, the incident took place near Assam's Chahbua.
The exact reason for the incident is yet to be ascertained, however, some reports claimed that the boat capsized due to overloading.
After the boat capsized, the five of them managed to swim and survive, while four others went missing in the river.
The missing persons are Shankar Yadav, Dhamen Das, Kishan Yadav and Sunku Kurmi.
Notably, in a similar incident on Friday night, a boat carrying flood-affected people capsized in the Hojai district of Assam.
The boat was carrying at least 27 passengers capsized in flood waters in the Raikota area.
As per reports, two children were reported missing after they were swept away by heavy floods.
